Chapter 5: Defects Tab

The Defect tab consists of a table and action buttons located beneath it. The table lists individual defects, showing their key, label, color, and any predefined metrics, which represent an aggregate value of smaller defect items.

Managing Defects

The Defects Tab lets you manage and customize defect elements in your model. From this tab, you can control the visibility and color of defects across all views.

Each defect in the list can be individually edited by clicking on it. You can modify properties such as color, type, and visibility. By default, colors are automatically assigned based on the defect type, but you’re free to change them at any time.

To quickly find specific defects, use the Search bar located above the Defects List.

Defect Parameters

Below the main defects list, there is a checklist that includes options to show or hide specific defect parameters (tick the respective boxes to do so), such as:

  • Label: The unique identifier for each defect.

  • Def. Yield: The number of voxels in the defect.

  • Def. Size: The longest distance across the defect in 3D space.

  • Def. Height: The height of the defect along Z-axis.

  • XY Diameter: The diameter of the circle circumscribing the defect in the XY plane.

  • XY Size: The longest distance between two points on the defect in the XY plane.

  • Position XYZ: The position of the defect in 3D space.

Action Buttons

At the bottom of the Defects Tab, the following action buttons are available:

  • Update Selected: Apply changes to multiple defects at once, such as modifying their color or type. This is ideal for bulk edits. When using this feature, the selected defects are highlighted in the main view for easy identification. Only these highlighted defects will appear in the Defects View, allowing for more focused analysis.

  • Merge Selected: Combine selected defects into a single cluster. If the merged defects share the same type, they will keep their original color and label. If the defects have different types, the resulting cluster will be labeled as ‘Unclassified’ and assigned a new color, which you can still update manually.

  • Select All: Highlights all defects for bulk actions.

  • Deselect All: Unselects any currently selected defects.

  • Hide/Show Selected: Toggles the visibility of the selected defects in the model view.

  • Delete Selected: Removes the selected defects from the model. This action cannot be undone.
