Chapter 4: Defects Tab

The Defect tab consists of a table and action buttons located beneath it. The table lists individual defects, showing their key, label, color, and any predefined metrics, which represent an aggregate value of smaller defect items.

Managing Defects

You can adjust the visibility and color of defect elements across all Views directly from this tab.

The Defects Tab allows you to manage individual defects in your model. Clicking on any defect in the list lets you edit its properties, such as its color, type, and visibility. Initially, colors are assigned automatically based on the Defect Type, but you can change them as needed.

You can also navigate the defects list using the Search bar above the Defects List.

Defect Parameters

Below the main defects list, there is a checklist that includes options to show or hide specific defect parameters (tick the respective boxes to do so), such as:

  • Label: The unique identifier for each defect.

  • Def. Yield: The impact of the defect on the overall yield.

  • Def. Size: The size of the defect.

  • Def. Height: The height of the defect in relation to the model.

  • XY Diameter: The diameter of the defect in the XY plane.

  • XY Size: The size of the defect within the XY dimensions.

  • Position XYZ: The position of the defect in 3D space.

Action Buttons

Below this list, you’ll find the following action buttons:

  • Update Selected: Change multiple defects at once, such as adjusting their color or type. This is useful for making bulk modifications across several defects. when using the feature, yield highlights the chosen defects in the main view for easier navigation. Only these defects will be shown in the Defects View for focused analysis.

  • Merge Selected: Merge selected defects into a single cluster. If the merged defects have the same type, they retain their previous color and label. If they have different labels, they will appear as ‘Unclassified’ and will be assigned a new color, which can still be modified manually.

  • Select All: Highlights all defects for bulk actions.

  • Deselect All: Unselects any currently selected defects.

  • Hide/Show Selected: Toggles the visibility of the selected defects in the model view.

  • Delete Selected: Removes the selected defects from the model. This action cannot be undone.
